Justin Gluesing, AMA ESD Superintendent, receives a check for $27,000 from Mike Mahler, President of the First Federal of Northern Michigan Legacy Foundation. The funds will support the purchase and installation of ADA-accessible playground equipment for students with disabilities at each public elementary school campus across its three-county region. The AMA ESD service area encompasses all of Alpena, Montmorency, and Alcona Counties and includes Alpena Public Schools, Alcona, Atlanta, and Hillman Community Schools.
"We began working on the vision for the project early this fall," Gluesing said. "We are grateful for the support of the First Federal Legacy Foundation. This donation will help us reach our goal."
The AMA ESD Board of Education approved 50% of the funding and continues to seek funding partners for the project. The project currently has donor commitments of approximately $70,000. An additional $40,000 will be needed to complete the full project across the nine (9) elementary school campuses.
