Alpena, MI – The United Way of Northeast Michigan is once again spreading holiday cheer through its Christmas Wish List Program, now in its 45th year. This heartwarming initiative aims to provide gifts and support to local families in need, and again this year, the AMA Educational Service District (AMA ESD) is stepping up to host the organization as it gathers and prepares the gifts for delivery.
The Christmas Wish List Program serves families experiencing hardship, with more than 400 youth and families anticipated to benefit this year. The program collaborates with Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency (NEMCSA) school success liaisons, who identify families and help determine their specific needs. United Way then matches these requests with generous donors who ensure the wishes are fulfilled.
Last year, the program brought joy to 387 youth and families, and with the continued support of donors, the program hopes to surpass that number this holiday season. Donations play a vital role in its success, covering gifts for unmatched requests, as well as essential items like food, household supplies, and fuel gift cards.
The AMA ESD is honored to provide space for the United Way to organize and prepare the gifts for delivery, ensuring that each family experiences the magic of the season. The collaboration highlights the power of community partnerships in making a difference.
